ECG dismiss load shedding claims

The electricity company of Ghana ECG has rebutted claims that it was going to undertake load shedding exercise across the country as part of it maintenance work. This come as a result  of announcement made some media houses that ECG has released a time table for the exercise.

The managing director of ECG Mr Kwame Agyemang – Budu speaking at a press conference in Accra assured the public of enough power to go round. He revealed that works on various Bulk Supply Point was complete.

“ The Pokuase Bulk Supply Point (BSP) has been completed and commissioned, the Kasoa BSP is about 98% done. The third intervention which requires stringing of lines from Accra to Tema to Achimota, Achimota to Mallam and to Accra central is being managed by GRIDCO”.

According to him, they have just started with the process of discussing with GRIDCO to know the impact of the works of power supply. The MD further assured that, they may not undertake any load shedding during the final phase of GRIDCO  project since they plan to transfer load to Kasoa Bulk Supply Point.

“We would then have to look at the impact on our customers so device means to mitigate it. We are yet to come out with the final time table and the date of commencement. This last phase of GRIDCO project has been ongoing without any major outages within the city. We wish to state emphatically that the media houses that releases the publication about the load shedding got their fact wrong. What they did is very unprofessional since they did not rectify with ECG”.
