The Chief and the People of Wassa Saaman, Community in the Amenfi East Municipal of Western Region has launched a development fund to assist the youth of Wassa Saaman in hand skills training and education.
The programme which was aimed at raising funds for youth development and empowerment was attended by personalities within Amenfi East, including the The MP for Amenfi East, Hon Nicholas Amankwa, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Amenfi East Constituency, Mr. Fredrick Korankye, Assembly member for Saaman electoral area,Hon. Isaac Yaw Boafo.
Nananom from different communities including Nana Sumperem, Nana Dawurampong, Jukwaa Mpatase Chief,Asuogya Krobo chief and his Obaahemaa,Nana Adesu and many others who bought into the vision also came to grace the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Nana Ampong Kwame Akro I, the chief of Wassa Saaman explained that, education and a good foundation of the youth is key to every community development and therefore, the need to pay very critical attention to that.
He therefore called on the Municipal Chief, the Member of parliament and everyone to make education and skill training program their top most priority in their daily policy planning and implementation.
Nana Ampong Kwame Akro I, in showing leadership by example donated Five thousand Ghana Cedis ( Ghc5000.00 ) as seed money to the fund.
The Municipal Chief Executive Officer for Amenfi East Municipality, Hon. Frederick Korankye in his speech at the program also supported the fund with an amount of Ghc3000.00, promised of 20 sawing machines and assured them of his support to the community as MCE.
The member of parliament, Hon. Nicholas Amankwaa a.k.a Home Boy with his able team on the other hand donated undisclosed amount of money with alot of promises.
Also at the event was Hon. Rex Asamoah Twum who was disqualified from contesting for 2020 NDC parliamentary primaries in the Amenfi East Constituency in his speech also supported the fund with Ghc1000.00 and used the opportunity to launch his initiative aimed at creating jobs for the youth within the area.
Again, the chiefs who came from the various Communities to support Nana Ampong Kwame Akro( I) and his people also donated Ghc4000.00 to the fund.
The assembly member, Hon. Isaac Yaw Boafo, Committee,Churches and individuals within the community support the fundraising with their efforts and a little amount of money they can give at the program.
Nana Ampong Kwame Akro I in his closing remarks gave thanks to the Almighty God and also shown his appreciation to organizers, committee, assembly man, leader of the churches, the chiefs, invited guest from government and the entire Community members for their commitment and support to the successful program.
The Assembly member Hon. Yaw Boafo Isaac speaking to the media said, the organizers and the committee are going to give a fair and clear account to public and the money would be used for its right purpose.
