Man remanded over 20-year-old woman’s murder

The Asokore Mampong District Court has remanded the 26-year-old man accused of murdering Samira Yakubu, 20, at Parkoso Estate in the Ashanti Region’s Asokore Mampong Municipality.

The accused, Akwasi Bonsu, has been charged with murder on a provisional basis, though his plea was not accepted in court today, Thursday, December 16, 2021.

Chief Inspector Samuel Mensah, the prosecutor, told the court that they had not completed their investigations and asked with the court to remand the accused person so that the police may conduct additional investigations.

As a result, the court, presided over by Her Worship Afia Densi Asare Kyire, remanded the accused individual until January 11, 2022.

On December 13, 2021, the accused reportedly sliced the deceased’s throat and slammed her in the head with a cement block, killing her instantly.

The deceased’s half-naked body was dumped in the garden of the accused person’s home.

The police saved the accused from being lynched by the citizens of the town, who had arrested and beaten him to a pulp.

The victim’s parents, who were present in court, demanded justice for their daughter while denying rumors that she was a prostitute.

They further claimed that the accused was the boyfriend of their late daughter.
