Don’t let internal Politics hinder our efforts to break the 8’ – Nana Addo

As the country approaches the next general election, President Akufo-Addo has exhorted delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to engage in healthy competition.

The President told a crowd at the NPP’s Delegates Conference today [Sunday, December 19, 2021] that the party’s capacity to stay together is crucial to the party’s triumph in the next election.

Even while the competition is vital, he believes it should not detract from the party’s progress toward maintaining power in 2024.

“We cannot avoid competition. Competition, there will be. But let that competition help that party and not hinder the party so that we can break the 8 in 2024,”

“The 2024 election is for us to lose. If we conduct ourselves well, we remain united and we have a level playing field”.

As a result, the President underlined that every action done by members and delegates now will have a significant impact on the party’s fortunes in the future.

“The Ghanaian people are looking at us right now, and they will be looking at us till 2024.” So the more discipline and unity we have amongst ourselves, the better our behavior will be, and the higher our chances of winning in 2024 will be.”

“We’ll find a candidate who can unite us, and we’ll all campaign to elect that candidate as the next President of the Republic in my place,” he said.
