The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers has announced a 25% price hike for sachet water products.
Magnus Nunoo, the National President of the National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers, issued an official press statement detailing the situation.
According to the association, the latest increase is due to high production costs from power, taxes, and high import charges.
The association indicated that, iced sachet water (clean water) would now cost 40 pesewas, while a bag of 500ml sachet water containing 30 pieces will cost GHC4.50 from retail trucks. However, Mini stores will sell it for GHC6.
They further recommended that, the 500 ml iced bottled water (small size), which generally sells for GHC 1.00, should now be sold for GHC 1.50, and the 750 ml or medium size iced bottled water, which sells for GHC 1.50, should now be sold for GHS2.00. GHC 3.50 will be charged for the 1.5L or large bottled water.
The new prices will be effective starting from Monday, December 27, 2021.
