Tamale Hospital Staffs under investigation for alleged theft

The Medical Superintendent of the Tamale Central Hospital, Dr. Mahamudu Mbiniwaya, has revealed that several personnel in the laboratory and theatre departments are being probed for alleged theft.

He did not name the officers under investigation, but he did say that the workers were involved in the act of getting around the system to give clients phony printed receipts.

According to dailyguidenetwork.com, he said that this was done on the hospital’s management’s dime.

“They have their receipts that are issued to clients, but suddenly there is no money, and when clients arrive for services, they say we don’t have this or that, therefore all of these people are facing the disciplinary committee,” he explained.

He went on to say that the hospital’s healthcare provision had been severely harmed as a result of this criminal act.

Dr. Mahamudu Mbiniwaya went on to say that in the past, when such incidents were discovered, the perpetrators would rush to chiefs and/or opinion leaders and ask them to intervene on their behalf.

This, he noted, would normally result in chiefs and other opinion leaders refusing to prosecute such individuals, but he hoped that with this case, that trend would be reversed.
