NPP in shambles, party spirit lost – Musah Superior

An aspiring General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Iddrisu Musah Superior has claimed that the party is in shambles because its essence has been lost.

“If we don’t get the spirit of the NPP back,” Mr. Superior claims, no presidential candidate on the party’s ticket will be able to win the 2024 elections.

Mr. Superior stated members of the party are demotivated and feel abandoned while speaking on the Class Morning Show on Class91.3FM on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 about why he wants to unseat Mr. John Boadu as General Secretary.

“The spirit of the party is lost, it has gone very far,” he told the show’s host, Kofi Oppong Asamoah. “If we want this party to get to work and win 2024 and win it well, we have to find the spirit, and the only way we can find the spirit is to find people who were not deliberately part of the team that made the spirit run away.”

The best individual to assist the NPP rekindle its spirit, in his opinion, “must have the energy, the person must be imaginative, the person must be youthful so that we can rekindle our spirit.”

“If we don’t get the NPP’s spirit back, forget it; you may pick the brightest, most intellectual, most resourceful presidential candidate in the world and still lose the election because presidential candidates don’t win elections; political parties do,” he cautioned.

“Our party is in shambles, now we are struggling,” the Deputy CEO of the Forestry Commission said, adding, “if you go around the country, you’ll see party people demotivated, our offices are dysfunctional, and we need to make sure that we get these people back, so we have to go out, at the base of the party, and re-recruit, we have to speak to people to come and join the work again.”

He explained that this is necessary because “how can we send a message to the rest of Ghanaians to vote for us if we can’t pull ourselves together?” So the most essential thing is to rekindle the party’s energy, and the best way to do so is to thrill the crowd and tell them that whatever their challenges or grievances are, they must return…

If elected as the NPP’s next General Secretary, Mr. Superior stated that everyone joins a party for self-improvement, and that if elected, he will establish a business development section to assist party members.
