K. K. Sarpong elected UPSA Chancellor

The University of Professional Studies (UPSA) Governing Council has approved to select Dr. K.K. Sarpong, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC), as the new Chancellor.

The decision was made at the UPSA Governing Council’s 82nd Meeting on Thursday, December 9, 2021, according to a circular to the University Community signed by the Registrar, Dr. Koryoe Anim Wright.

“The criteria and processes outlined in Section 14 of the University of Professional Studies Accra, Act, ACT 850, and Section 5.0 of the Statutes, were rigorously followed in filling the Chancellor job,” he stated.

It claimed that, in addition to the criteria set forth in the Act and Statutes, the University took into account the following key features in the candidate’s selection.

“A person who embodies the University’s principles, vision, goals, and ambitions, as well as a passion for its work.” “Recognizes and celebrates the value of higher education, has a strong public service record, and has proven fundraising talents and worldwide contacts,” according to the statement.

Other qualifications examined included the ability to promote the university and its accomplishments on a regional, national, and international level, a demonstrated mentorship track record, a desire for social responsibility and community involvement, and an exceptional academic record.

“We congratulate Dr. Sarpong on his new position as Chancellor of UPSA and wish him well.” In the coming months, there will be a formal installation ceremony.” It was added.
