Controversial Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke has revealed why he doesn’t follow anyone on Instagram.
In a recent interview with Temisan Emmanuel’s “Tea with Tay” podcast on Friday, January 28, 2022, the movie actor, born James Ikechukwu Esomugha, asserts that he sees the online or social media platforms, particularly Instagram, as a market place.
The actor boasts a 2.4 million Instagram followers but follows no one.
“I didn’t want to follow anyone on social media from the beginning.” I wanted to make it clear that this is a shopping mall. It’s a fictitious reality. It’s not something most people desire to do on a daily basis.
“If you look at any of my posts, you’ll notice that they’re all personalized to you. I don’t talk about my family on the internet. I don’t share my delights on social media. Certain things, in my opinion, should be left to one’s own experience.
“I live in three different tiers of existence. I have three lives: one in which I am private, one in which I am public, and one in which I am secret.
“Social media is a reflection of public life.” That is where I should go if I want to make a fashion statement, if I want to make a statement about my ideology and morals, if I want to promote anything, or if I want to change people’s minds about something.
“I go there if I’m having fun with individuals who don’t mind being on that platform.”
