My father asked us not to have a funeral when he dies – Mzbel

Retired Ghanaian musician, Mzbel, whose true name is Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, has spoken up for the first time about her father’s death.

Mzbel announced the death of her father on her social media account a few days ago.

A video of her father being prepped for burial surfaced shortly after her statement, prompting fans and followers of the performer to wonder when he died and why he was being buried so soon.

Mzbel has offered her first interview, revealing that her father, Mr Amoah, was a devout Muslim who was buried according to Islamic practices before to his death.

No amount of reasoning from her and her family, she claims, could persuade the Imams and the Islamic society to treat her father differently.

When asked if she would subsequently plan a burial for her late father, as some Muslims do, she replied that they are now in talks to determine if it is possible.

She claimed that her father told them two weeks before his death that he didn’t want them to plan a funeral for him because he wanted to pass away gently.

Mzbel went on to say that after consulting with the Imams, they clarified to them that there is no such thing as a funeral after 40 days, but rather wealthy people who value such things.
