Edudzi Tameklo, a former advisor to former President John Dramani Mahama, claims that Yaw Kwakwa, the ousted Managing Director of the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL), was fired to please Daniel McKorley.
The Minister of Transport, Kwaku Asiamah, had already announced the sacking of the GACL MD in a letter that did not disclose the grounds for the decision.
“Per letter No. 0P S127/22/104, dated 31st January 2022, His Excellency the President has directed the appointment of Mr. Yaw Kwakwa as Managing Director of the Ghana Airport’s Company Limited be terminated,” according to the letter.
However, in a Facebook post, Edudzi Tameklo said that Kwakwa was fired to placate McDan Aviation’s boss, whom he described as untouchable.
“To please McDan, the Managing Director of Ghana Airport Company Limited made a sacrifice.”
The untouchable McDan was touched by the MD, according to the tweet.
He further alleged that Daniel McKorley owes President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for specific roles he played in previous engagements.
“Akuffo Addo and Ken Ofori Atta recruited two South African mercenaries into the country to train their vigilante groups while in opposition.” These mercenaries arrived in Ghana under the pretense of training security officers for a McDan-owned enterprise.
“Akufo Addo owes McDan a debt of gratitude. Gabby is McDan, and McDan is Gabby. How dare you touch the President’s and Prime Minister’s friend?
“MD, Kwakwa, please accept my apologies. He teased, “Next time look before you leap.”
Officially, the reason for the GACL MD’s dismissal is unknown, but GhanaWeb is keeping a careful eye on the situation and will keep you updated in future stories.
