IGP Dampare promises a prompt investigation into the assault on a Connect FM journalist.

The IGP has called Eric Nana Gyetuah, a journalist with Connect FM in Takoradi in the Western Region, to assure him of prompt investigations into an assault on him by plain-clothes security personnel.

On Thursday, Eric Nana Gyetuah was assaulted and beaten by plain-clothes security personnel for photographing them eating at a renowned Takoradi eatery with some suspects in custody.

He was then escorted to the Western Regional Police Command, where he gave his statement.

He was then identified as a journalist, and police investigation bail was granted.

In an interview with Citi News, he stated that the IGP has informed him that he will investigate the situation.

”I could not take pictures or films of them in the chop bar, rather I hid to take some pictures while they were at the car park, one noticed me, raced to me and demanded the phone which I rejected. He then summoned his colleagues, who began thrashing me.”

“The IGP has called to reassure me that he will take care of the situation.”
