President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-commitment Addo’s to fight corruption, according to Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to ex-President John Mahama, was never part of his plan when he joined office.
According to her, President Akufo-commitment Addo’s to preserve the public purse never materialized, and he (Akufo-Addo) has instead plundered the country of its wealth, according to myjoyonline.
Mr Mahama’s Special Aide stated that the NPP government is now attempting to raise revenue through the E-Levy after squandering the country’s resources.
“President Akufo-Addo never ran for office with the intention of fighting corruption; it was never in his plans.” We’ve had a government that vowed to tighten its belt, cut waste, and safeguard the public purse [but] I believe they’ve essentially robbed us of the public purse or whatever is left; as for E-levy, it won’t be our solution,” she told myjoyonline.com.
Bawah Mogtari suggested that the president’s commitment to tackle corruption was a ruse, and that the Special Prosecutor’s Office had made no impact.
She went on to say that when the president tried to pursue members of his own cabinet, he sacked the first special prosecutor.
“Listen to all the corruption stories and remember what occurred with the Office of the Special Prosecutor; I recall President Akufo-Addo praising Martin Amidu’s qualifications; where did that go? Has the debate altered now that we have a new Special Prosecutor?”
