The family of a 40-year-old man discovered dead in a well after a four-day rescue attempt is still grieving.

According to family sources, Ebenezer Appiah, a mason, did not return home from work on Sunday, February 6, causing concern among his family members, who initiated a search for him.

On the morning of February 10, his uncle, Peter Osei, informed the police that his nephew’s lifeless body had been discovered in a hand-dug well in an unfinished structure at Kenkase, near Kenyase in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered the partially decomposed body of a male adult and immediately notified the district fire and environmental officers, who were dispatched to the area.

The dead was hired to desilt a hand-dug well erected in an unfinished building at Kenkase, near Kenyase, according to a spot inquiry.

The owner of the building had yet to be identified by the authorities.

Environmental officers, on the other hand, approved the victim’s rapid burial in the well “to minimize any disease epidemic.”

Although it was not clear what was documented, the victim’s family welcomed the decision.

The police however say it is working to invite the owner of the said facility for questioning.
