#FixTheCountry Barker-Vormawor on hunger strike in detention.

Since his detention by security personnel on Friday, February 11, 2022, Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor, the arrested convener of the #FixTheCountry campaign, has been on hunger strike.

Police contacted Barker-lawyers Vormawor’s late Saturday after they refused to give them any information regarding his whereabouts, according to the movement.

The message, headlined OLIVER ALERT: UPDATE NO. 3, was released on their Facebook page on Sunday, February 13, 2022, and revealed, among other things, that he had a two-hour discussion with his lawyers.

“The meeting, which lasted for about 2 hours, involved a discussion on the condition, treatment, personal liberty and the possible arraignment of Mr Barker-Vormawor.

“The police also gave the lawyers an opportunity to have a word with Mr Barker-Vormawor, who has been on a hunger strike since he was accosted and detained yesterday, Friday, 11th February, 2022, by unidentified armed men,” the statement read in part.

The activist was arrested as a result of a social media post threatening a coup, police said in a statement released early Saturday. On Monday, February 14, 2022, he will be arraigned in court.
