Court orders UTAG to suspend strike

The University Teachers Association of Ghana’s strike has been ordered to be halted by the Labour Division of the Accra High Court (UTAG).

On Tuesday afternoon [February 15, 2022], the court, presided over by Justice Frank Aboadwe Rockson, halted the strike, which was in its fifth week.

The order came after the National Labour Commission filed an interlocutory injunction request (NLC).

According to the court’s directives, UTAG must put its strike on hold until the outcome of an application filed by the NLC to enforce the court’s orders for UTAG to halt its strike and return to the negotiating table with the government.
