Kim Kardashian Legally Declared Single in Kanye West Divorce Case

Kim Kardashian has finally gotten her desire, as she has been formally deemed a single woman by a Los Angeles Superior Court, more than a year after filing for her first-ever divorce from Kanye West.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West began dating in 2012 and married in May of that year with four children. North is eight years old, Saint is six, Chicago is four, and Psalm is two and half.

Both Kim and West were represented by their legal divorce attorneys at the court hearing on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.

Kimberly Noel Kardashian, an American media celebrity, socialite, model, businesswoman, actor, and reality star, attended the court session virtually via videoconference, represented in person by Laura Wasser, a notable divorce lawyer who was in court.

Kanye West, an American rapper, record producer, and fashion designer, was also absent from the courtroom; he, like Kim, was represented by Samantha Spector, another well-known Hollywood family attorney, after firing his counsel, Chris Melcher, a day before the Wednesday hearing.

Kanye attempted to object to Kim’s single status request with three conditions, two of which were denied and one of which was granted: “any entitlement to reimbursement of money that’s meant to be divided up shall be kept in case either of them dies.”

Other terms include Kim not transferring any assets held in trust and waiving the “marital privilege” if she remarries. A new spouse would not have to testify about communications he had with her because of this privilege. That was rejected by the judge. according to a story from TMZ.

Judge Steven Cochran, who ruled over the case in Los Angeles Superior Court, granted Kim’s request for a divorce from West, which means that Kardashian’s legal name will revert from “Kardashian West” to simply “Kardashian,” indicating that she is now a single woman.

There are still a number of difficult issues to resolve, such as asset partition and custody.

According to Judge Steven Cochran, the next hearing in the court case between the two superstars will take place in August 2022.
