While many are praising Davido, the DMW record boss, following his successful London O2 Arena concert, he has been fined for violating the venue’s curfew.

The O2 Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the heart of the Greenwich Peninsula’s O2 entertainment complex in southeast London. It first opened in its current incarnation in 2007. It has the second-largest seating capacity of any indoor facility in the United Kingdom, after Manchester Arena, and was the busiest music arena in the world in 2008.

On Saturday, March 5, 2022, Davido, a popular Nigerian musician, delighted a large number of fans with a stunning show that included himself as well as other major international and local artists such as Stonebwoy, Ckay, and others.

According to a report, it appears that the DMW boss, OBO, Davido, also known by his legal name David Adeleke, was prosecuted and fined £340,000 for violating the venue’s rules.

According to a post by Marvin Abbey, a London-based social media influencer who was also there at the event, Davido was meant to end his sold-out show at 11 p.m., but he didn’t.

Marvin’s tweet indicated that Davido ended his program at 11:34 p.m. and was fined £340,000 by the local council for the extra 34 minutes he prolonged his show, with a fee of $10,000 per minute.

“Davido was supposed to finish his concert at the O2 @ 11pm. The O2 have a strict 11pm curfew. For every minute you go past 11pm you have to pay £10,000. Davido said he don’t care. He finished the concert at 23:34. That’s £340,000 fine. Mental! 😂😂.” he wrote.

Marvel responded with a follow-up post to those accusing him of fabricating stories, sharing examples of celebrities like Justin Bieber and Rolling Stone being fined for the same offense of violating the venue’s curfew.

“For all the people saying I’m lying about the Davido tweet 🙄😅. The O2 curfew is nothing new. Read up on it, I don’t have time to argue. The Rolling Stones & Justin Bieber have also been fined in the past. It’s actually Greenwich council that issue the fine.” he added.
