Russia Ukraine War: Two Fox News journalists killed in Kyiv

Two Fox News journalists have been killed in Ukraine, according to the network’s staff.

In Horenka, on the outskirts of Kyiv, cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski, 55, and Oleksandra Kuvshinova, 24, were killed when their vehicle was hit by incoming fire.

Benjamin Hall, 39, a colleague, was injured and is still in the hospital.

Suzanne Scott, the CEO of Fox News, called it a “heartbreaking day” for the company.

Zakrzewski’s “passion and talent as a journalist were unsurpassed,” according to Ms Scott.

“During his long stint with Fox News, Pierre was a combat zone photographer who covered practically every international story from Iraq to Afghanistan to Syria,” she stated.

Jennifer Griffin, a Fox News national security correspondent, described Zakrzewski as “wildly popular” and “profoundly committed to reporting the narrative.”

She wrote, “His talents were broad, and there wasn’t a function in the field that he didn’t leap in to help with — from photographer to engineer to editor to producer, and he did it all under incredible pressure with tremendous expertise.”

Kuvshinova was characterized by Ms Griffin as a “bright light and outstanding journalist.” “The loss we feel is indescribable,” she remarked.

Yonat Friling, Fox’s senior field producer, said Kuvshinova had been working with the crew for a month and “did a fantastic job.”

Ms Friling remarked, “We have lost a wonderful brave woman.” “She was witty and compassionate, and she liked music.”

The killings of Kuvshinova and Zakrzewski, an Irish citizen, have left Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin “very upset.”

The taoiseach tweeted, “My sympathies are with their families, friends, and fellow journalists.”

On Monday, Ms Scott said that Mr Hall had been hurt, but she gave no further details.

Mr Hall was in a bad condition, according to Anton Gerashchenko, an assistant to Ukraine’s interior minister, who posted on Telegram on Monday.

Mr. Hall, who is a dual citizen of the United States and the United Kingdom, joined Fox News in 2015 and has been prominently involved in the network’s foreign affairs coverage.

The incident that killed Zakrzewski and Kuvshinova comes after the killing of Brent Renaud, a 50-year-old American journalist, who was shot and killed in the village of Irpin on Sunday.

At least two additional Ukrainian journalists have been killed in the war, according to Lyudmyla Denisova, the human rights chief of the Ukrainian parliament.
