AshantiGold attacked by armed robbers after Hearts of Oak defeat

The Miners were ambushed by armed robbers in the early hours of Monday after a journey to Accra to play Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League.

Following their match against Hearts of Oak on Sunday evening, a team of armed robbers stormed Ghana Premier League side AshantiGold SC.

No one was hurt in the horrible incident, which took place in Assin Endwa, Assin North District, Central Region.

“We were ambushed by armed robbers near Assin Endwa on our way back from Accra,” the club claimed in a statement.

“As the team driver meandered through a horrible scene of shooting, the bandits fired three bullets at the front bulletproof glass.”

“It’s a blessing that no one was injured.” The entire team is currently safe in Obuasi.”

AshantiGold was returning to Obuasi after losing 2-1 to Accra Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.
