Dome-Kwabenya residents to demonstrate over Adwoa Safo’s absence in the constituency

Some people of the Greater Accra Region’s Dome-Kwabenya Constituency have said that they will stage a protest against their Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo.

They claim the protest is in response to her protracted absence from the constituency.

They indicated that Adwoa Safo’s long absence from the seat is having an impact on the area because nothing has changed since she left.

Ashongman Estate, Dome, Kwabenya, and Musouku are among the residents who have been harmed.

In an interview with Accra FM, the group’s spokesperson, Mr. Andy Kamkam, said the MP’s protracted absence has become a subject of concern for people.

“We expect our MP to treat us with some respect. It is not an issue of the NDC or the NPP, but of the Constituency’s progress. The NPP can settle any concerns with Adwoa Safo at the party level, but we have the right to know where our MP is,” he stated.

Adwao Safo, who also serves as the Minister of Gender, has been missing from the House since the beginning of the year.

Her absence has hampered the Majority from obtaining the necessary votes to approve several laws, most notably the E-Levy.

On Friday, March 18, the Majority Chief Whip chastised the Dome-Kwabenya MP for holding the government hostage.

In an interview with Joy FM, he said his colleague MP should be ashamed for obstructing government business in Parliament.

“She has no justification whatsoever to behave the way she is behaving,” he stated. “I have been silent, tolerant, and diplomatic about this whole situation about Adwoa Safo, but the way it is going, she is blackmailing the entire system, which is extremely unfair.”
