Joe Mettle replies Ras Kuuku for questioning his Artiste of the Year nomination

Joseph Oscar Nii Armah Mettle, better known by his stage name Joe Mettle, a Ghanaian gospel artist, has responded to Ras Kuuku’s remark about his Artist of the Year nomination.

The musician confessed that he had no idea he was nominated for the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards this year because his management filed his application without his knowledge.

Joe Mettle stated that the award scheme’s organizers decide how artists are chosen, and he can’t understand why Ghanaians are continuously attacking him.

In response to Ras Kuuku’s statements, the ‘My Everything’ hitmaker warned that if he is also nominated, he will experience similar wrath.

The musician claimed on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz that he is unconcerned by the criticisms because he can’t please everyone, and that he is hopeful that he will win.

“I had no idea my name had been put forward for consideration.” My manager filed behind me. That caught me off guard. Oh, okay, was my initial reaction. I’m not the one who picks the winners. I’m not sure why people are chasing me; after all, the word “deserve” is a large one.

I was the one who noticed his remark. I burst out laughing. They’ll treat him the same way if he’s nominated. The point is that you will not be liked by everyone. People are always going to have problems. That thing drains you of too much energy.

Anyone in the category has a chance to win. Don’t take someone for granted. I’m confident in my ability to triumph. “Anyone else can win,” Joe Mettle opined.

Ras Kuuku, a reggae/dancehall performer, blasted the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) organizers after Joe Mettle was nominated in the Artiste of the Year category.

The gospel musician, according to Ras Kuuku, does not deserve the nomination because he has not worked hard enough to earn it.

He further remarked that Joe Mettle’s nomination is an insult to all Ghanaian singers, and only Fameye is deserving of the award.

Kuami Eugene, King Promise, Sarkodie, Kidi, Black Sherif, and Joe Mettle are among the Artiste of the Year nominees.

Joe Mettle, on the other hand, became the first gospel artist to win the VGMA Artiste of the Year award on April 8, 2017.
