After slapping Chris Rock at the Osars on Sunday night, Will Smith has finally apologized to him.
Will gave Chris a scorching slap in the face on Sunday night, March 27, 2022, at the Oscars after he made a joke about Will’s wife, Jada, that Smith didn’t like.
Chris took aim at Jada’s hair loss, which is the result of a medical ailment known as alopecia.
Will Smith was, and continues to be, in the news, eliciting conflicting reactions from internet users, with some praising him for taking dramatic efforts to protect his sweetheart, while others criticizing him.
Will has now taken to his official and verified Instagram account to apologize for his actions, admitting that his behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was wrong and inexcusable.
According to him, jokes at his expense are part of his work, but a joke targeting his wife, Jada’s medical condition, was too much for him to take as a joke, causing him to react emotionally.
He Wrote: “Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.
“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.
“I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us.
“I am a work in progress.
