If President Akufo Addo’s assertion that he has built over ten thousand kilometers of road network across the country is to be believed, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, believes that all roads in Ghana should be done by now.
Because an asphalt overlay does not constitute road development, the President appears to him to be a windbag set on making a mockery of Ghanaians’ intelligence.
“A ten-thousand-kilometer road excursion is equivalent to a trip to London and return.”
“In our country, there are a lot of roads that haven’t been built.” Farmers are having difficulty transporting their farm produce from their farms to various markets, despite the fact that you claim to have built a 10,000-kilometer road network in the country.
“Roads are not projects that can be disguised, so just show Ghanaians proof of the road network you’ve built, and we’ll check it out.” But I can tell you that the NDC under President John Dramani Mahama built more roads in a single term than Akufo-Addo did in his whole presidency.
“…..am pretty confident the president has no idea what it takes to build 10,000 kilometers of roads, and I believe that’s why he was tickling himself and being such a braggart,” he remarked on OkayFM’s “Ade Akye Abia” show.
The current government, according to the NDC General Secretary, has “borrowed over GHS300 billion and has nothing to show for it in terms of infrastructure.”
He pointed out that even the president’s recently commissioned Tamale junction in the Northern area was built in stages and is not yet completely operational.
“Despite the fact that this government has named 2019 the Year of Roads, Ghanaians continue to moan about the state of their terrible roads,” he continued.
Since 2017, 10,000 kilometers of new roads have been built? Hi
Since 2017, the President of the Republic has built almost 10,000 kilometers of new roads, according to the President of the Republic.
According to the President, in the last five years of his administration, more roads have been built, rebuilt, and upgraded than in the entire history of the country.
“The largest infrastructure achievement we have recorded is in the road sector. I understand that the word “unprecedented” is frequently thrown around carelessly in our public discourse, but I use it with attention and purpose. So far, more roads have been built, renovated, and upgraded during my government’s five years in office than during any other five-year period in Ghana’s history.
“In these five (5) years, about ten thousand, eight hundred and seventy-five (10,875) kilometers of new roads have been created,” H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo remarked during a state of the country speech in Parliament on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.
