Eintracht Frankfurt, the only team to go undefeated in the Europa League this season, will face Rangers in the UEFA Europa League final in Seville’s Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán in the 2021/22 season, looking to become the first winners from Germany and Scotland, respectively.
Both clubs previously played in the European Cup semi-finals in 1959/60, with Frankfurt winning 6-1 at home and 6-3 in the second leg.
Frankfurt then traveled to Glasgow for the final, where they were defeated 7-3 by Real Madrid at Hampden Park.
After decades, the two clubs are attempting to win a second European trophy.
Rangers won their first European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1972, defeating Dynamo Moscow 3-2 in Barcelona.
In 1980, Frankfurt won the UEFA Cup on aggregate, defeating Borussia Mönchengladbach 4-2 on aggregate.

Eintracht Frankfurt won Group D with 12 points, finishing ahead of Olympiacos, Fenerbahçe, and Antwerp to qualify for the round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League, where they defeated Real Betis 3-2 on aggregate after extra time.
They then beat Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate in the quarter-finals before winning both semi-final legs 3-1 on aggregate against West Ham United.
After 12 games, Frankfurt is undefeated in the UEFA Europa League Final in 2021/2022.
Rangers began their European season in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round in 2021/22, but they spent the autumn in the UEFA Europa League Group A, finishing second to Lyon with a game to spare, ahead of Sparta Praha and Brndby.
In the elimination round play-offs, they defeated Borussia Dortmund 6-4 on aggregate, and in the round of 16, they defeated Crvena zvezda 4-2 on aggregate.
They went on to defeat Braga 3-2 on aggregate in the quarter-finals before eliminating RB Leipzig 3-2 on aggregate in the semi-finals.
