Kathleen Addy has been confirmed and sworn in as the Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education by President Akufo-Addo (NCCE).
From 2017 to April 2022, Ms. Addy served as the National Commission for Civic Education’s Deputy Chairperson in Charge of Finance and Administration.
She was later named Acting Chairperson on May 1, 2022, and has since been confirmed as the Commission’s Chairperson.
The President of the Republic’s appointment authority is reinforced by Article 70 (e) and Article 232 (2) of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution, which states that the President of the Republic must designate the Chair of the National Commission for Civic Education in collaboration with the Council of State.
Ms. Addy has over 20 years of expertise in the field of communications and development. She is a well-known activist who has championed various causes promoting democracy, good governance, and human rights throughout the years.
She is especially concerned about women’s rights.
Ms. Addy graduated from the University of Ghana, Legon, with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in communications studies.
